why not the other way around? what about "shaq wouldn't have his titles without kobe or without d wade", isn't that true?

i know that neither the lakers or heat would have their titles without shaq...my main point is that shaq gets far more credit than kobe or wade, they don't get enough.

To let you know...It's both way,
Center are the center piece in winning a championship, except for chicago. But center need a really good guard or forward to help them. Think about it...

Shaq in Orlando didn't win, no superstar G or F, there was 1 P Hardaway, but wasn't a dominating Superstar...Shaq had Kobe/Wade, and it help him out a lot, that's why they won.

In the pass...Kareem had Magic, Duncan had Parker/Ginobili, B Wallace had Rip/Billup...so u need two superstar to be able to win a championship. This year no different..Phoenix has Amare and Nash/Marion. and Dallas has Dirk and Terry/Howard.

Shaq need Kobe/Wade...and vice versa...without the other no championship...enuff said...

People just like to say Kobe need shaq because Center are the centerpiece of a championship...if lakers win it this year, that'll prove me wrong, they have Kobe/Odom, no true center...

The reason why it's not the other way around is because when Shaq won the other 3 titles with the Lakers he was in his prime and he was the MVP of those three finals while last year Wade was the best player in the Heat and he was the MVP in the finals. Many people believe that Kobe wouldn't have 3 titles without Shaq, but people that understands the game knows that Shaq wouldn't have won those 3 titles without Kobe either, they both needed each other and the other players that made the lakers such a dynasty in order for them to win those titles.

Of course that is true. You have to have some balance inside and outside. It is just that beyond the talent of Kobe and Wade, you have to have the chemistry and drive that Shaq has been able to add to their talents. MJ is one of the few to not have a domineering Center and still win or at least be competative over time. Shaq makes the difference - Wade would not have won without someone like Shaq in the middle and look at where the Lakers have been without Shaq...

I suppose that is true, but as a general rule a truly dominant center is far more of a commodity then a guard who can score well. For example, in the NBA right now they're are only two true all star centers, Yao Ming and Shaquille O'Neal. There's quite a few excellent guards/small forwards such as Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Allen Iverson, Gilbert Arenas, etc. While these players may not all be on the same level as Kobe or Wade, I don't think it's a stretch to say that Shaq could have had close to equal success with the majority of them on his team in place of Kobe or Wade; the same can't be said the other way around. Kobe and Dwyane are both amazing players, but Shaq is once in a generation dominant superstar, that's why he has 4 rings.

You're right, no single player can win the crown for his team all by himself. Even MJ needed Pippen to win those titles for the Bulls. Problem is, Kobe's too egotistic that he believes he could win championships by virtue of his own greatness as a player; otherwise, why would he plot O'Neal's departure from the Lakers? What I'm saying is in his desire to prove himself as a great player or as MJ's equal or even better than MJ, he got too selfish and arrogant. Wade isn't like that. While Flash is now the Heat's No. 1 guy, he acknowledges Shaq's role as the No. 2 amigo who'll always watch his (Wade's) back. And Shaq has had no problem with that as long as the Heat wins. And they already did. Kobe should learn from it.

Shaq was dominant, but no way could he have won his rings without a decent backcourt, and that's not just referring to wade and kobe, but to the rest of his supporting cast. Dwight Howard is in that predicament. He's so strong and athletic, but he's got no decent guards to pick up the slack. I'm sure if he had someone like wade or lbj the Magic would be looking for a division title.

Kobe gets enough credit, it's just here on Yahoo Answers player haters load up the question pages. D wade is hailed often also, so i think all the respective players get the credit they deserve. They'll all loved by many, "hated" by ignorant media-slaves, and played huge roles in getting their rings. No one should try to downplay Shaq's, Wade's, or Kobe's influence on their championship runs.

Here's why, Shaq has won titles with different players so the only common person is Shaq, and he also got his first team (Orlando Magic) in the finals against MJ and Chicago. So you would have to say he only got their because of Kobe and D Wade and Anfernee Hardaway and that is a joke. If you look at the teams that won NBA championships since 1979 except for the 6 Chicago got the other 21 championships were all won with dominate inside play (Kareem, Shaq, Akeem, Moses Malone, Tim Duncan, Mc Hale and Parrish, and Lambier and Mahorn. So championships are usually won with dominate big men, teams like Phoenix and Dallas haven't won one yet and I think that will change this year. But Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have 19 NBA titles between them.....

Well just cause Shaq is one of the greatest centers of all time, and before those championships Kobe wasnt the super star he is today. Even Dwayne Wade wasnt considered one of the top players in the leagueg until the Heat won the title.

Tyler, are you just plain stupid or incredibly ignorant?

Kobe's point averages for his playoff runs:

2000 - 21.1
2001 - 29.4
2002 - 26.6
2003 - 32.1
2004 - 24.5

Shaq's point averages for those same years:

2000 - 30.7
2001 - 30.4
2002 - 28.5
2003 - 27.0
2004 - 21.5

Hardly double. My god, it's almost like those last two years, Shaq was relying on Kobe in the playoffs. /sarcasm

Oh, and for the record, here's Rick Fox's point averages.

2000 - 4.3
2001 - 10.0
2002 - 9.8
2003 - 6.0
2004 - 1.1

Wow, that's REAL close to Kobe's now, huh?

There's a reason why Kobe and Shaq were called the best 1-2 punch in the NBA at the time; not the best player and a leecher. Both equally contributed their share.

Cuz they wont. Kobe and Wade are both better than Shaq, but Shaq is that presence around the rim. He his a great intimidator and has excellent leadership skills. He is the piece to a Championship team.
