Well, Chicago, NYC, Washington DC, and California have the highest gun control in the country as well as the highest crime rates.

In fact nationwide, since 1970 homicide per 1,000 has stayed relatively the same while handgun ownership has steadily increased.

Higher, recent research has prove that where guns are banned and people were forced to turn them in only the honest people did so leaving the criminals with the weapons and everyone else no way to defend themselves. Look at Alaska, almost everyone there has a gun and it is pretty peaceful. I'm not saying there isn't any crime I am saying that everyone knows that everyone else has them, except criminals, so we are all on a level playing field. Get where I'm goin' with that? If you came up to me and tried to mug me I would put my .45 in your face and ask if you are sure this is what you want to do and there is a good chance you will change your mind. Get me?
PS: That monkey is creepin me out.

i would say the crime rate is higher, i saw on TV the other night that the mayor of some town had a law were every house hold was required to own a gun and their crime rate was almost zero. back in the old days when most people did have guns in their homes most people were to scared to break in some ones house for fear of being shot. in those days you could sleep with your doors open and no one would bother you.

Easy, you have to look at the CULTURE. The Japanese tend to have a lower crime rate then most other Nations also. There is no paradox here except people who don't know about the different cultures. Do a study on Japan one of these days, they don't cuddle criminals like the Western World does. By your standards, we should adopt the policies of the Middle East and how they punish criminals.

To answer the question look to nations with higher gun restriction laws. Last year the US had 22,000 gun deaths approximately. Germany had something like 500. Smaller country, but not that much smaller. Also with a nation such as Germany that has started 2 world wars, you can't argue they are more peaceful than Americans.

Common sense will tell you that crime will be on the increase in those areas, because victims are for the most part defenseless, discounting the martial arts artists.

Great Briton has no gun policy and they still have a hi crime rate.
New York City has a no gun ban and also has a hi crime rate.
