At first, I thought trading for Carr and drafting Calvin Johnson with the 1st pick was a really good idea. Then I got an even better idea. Hang on, because it gets a little tricky towards the end.

A. Trade for Carr. Would the Texans take Jerry Porter and, say, a 5th round pick for Carr? Carr for Moss straight up might also be reasonable. I still like Carr and I think he can still be a good quarterback. Especially if Lane Kiffin can figure out some creative way to give him more than half a second to throw.

B. Trade the 1st pick in the draft for about the 15th and 25th picks. Based on past draft trades, I think that's about what you can get for it.

C. With the 15th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select Marshawn Lynch. Marshawn stays in his hometown and becomes an NFL star. An enormous upgrade from Lamont Jordan.

D. With the 25th pick in the draft, they select a good WR to replace Moss or Porter (whichever one has the worse attitude). I think Robert Meachem would be a GREAT pick here.

The tricky part would be trading away the #1 pick for two first rounders. Because even though the #1 pick really is worth that much, it's still a big, complicated trade. But if the Raiders management pulls this off (and maybe drafts some OL help in the 2nd round), they would make their offense 100 times better in only one offseason. They could be this year's Saints.

First, Culpepper and Carr are not worth the first overall pick in the draft. not even close.MAybe 3rd or 4th round.

Carr would be a nice fit.He played at Fresno State. He also has a stong arm whcih Al Davis loves. Also if they trade 3rd or 4th round pick to Houston they still can take Calvin Johnson with the 1st overall pick.

Culpepper is coming off of knee surgery and has not proven anything.I also don't think Moss wants him there anyway.

I think if the Raiders need anything right now its a quarterback with pocket presence and Quinn is the man for the job. Overall though, I think Russell will be the pick because of his toughness in general. Oakland is a tough city and a guy like him could be the poster boy now that everypne knows neither Aaron Brooks nor Randy Moss could get it done.

David Carr. They should also trade down and get a pile of picks for upgrading that Red Light! Green Light! offensive line. Those guys couldn't save a QB 10 cents with a coupon.

NO!! Culpeper already had knee surgery and will never have the mobility he once had. Plus he is getting older. Keep the pick and draft Jamarcus Russel, someone who is younger and is like culpeper.

that makes sense b/c if they get j.russel from lsu they will take 3-4 for him to mature into somthing other than the deep ball and int's.but that said it is the raiders and they will go with j.russell.bye the way they could always package a deal to try to trade for vick and get b.grabkowski as a good back up.

I like your idea, or lack of. The raiders do not want another ex-viking of trouble on their team, or do they? They will take Russel in the first pick, and he will end up being knocked out because they have no offensive line to protect him with.

They'll trade that number on to Houston for David Carr and a second rounder.

anybody but the first draft pick, no way should they throw him to the wolves and set the franchise back even further, I will say though that I am disappointed that they didnt pick up a veteran qb for the rookie to learn from...and daunte...garbage...especially for what his going price will be...
