Don't feel bad, it should have gone back after 16 hrs. I continued for 2 weeks. I had every neighbor mad at me, my family could not stand to be around me, and I cried and complained non-stop. My 5 year old son finally said, "Mama, would you please start smoking again. I liked you better when you smoked." It was truly sad. I realized that the only way I could quit is by cutting down. I have cut back from 3 packs a day to less than a pack. The storm, Katrina, came and hindered my continuing progress, but I think I am almost ready to start cutting back again. I hoping to be down to 8 cigarettes per day by the end of next week.
Why don't you try giving yourself a limit, then decreasing it gradually as I did. It may work for you.

Don't get down on yourself! The first several attempts I made at quitting were miserable failures. My shortest "quit" was 1 day. So far I haven't smoked since August 12, 2005. Did it cold turkey, and I have yet to regret it. It was hard, but I just kept at it. I quit for 2 reasons. 1) I couldn't afford it anymore.
2) I was having a lot of anxiety about the health risks.

Well, that is sixteen more hours you can add to your life. Try try again. If you have health insurance there is a new med out to help that is supposed to be fantastic. I think it is called Chantix or something like that. Made by Pfizer. You can look it up on Google. I know several people at work who have taken it and have successfully quit. Good luck and don't give up. I gave you a gold star at least for trying.

16 hours is definitely longer than I've ever quit. So congrats! Its a good start. I sure don't know what the answer is to quitting because I have tried everything....obviously, unsuccessfully........you have to be 100% committed to giving it up I think and I just haven't reached that point yet....I actually like to smoke....:)
You should be commended for the effort!!

The longest I ever made it was three weeks. Trust me, it's more of a let down to go for that long and then resort back to smoking.
I'm trying to quit again on March 31st; wish me luck! And good luck to you if you ever try to quit again.
