Hi Alex,
A common challenge for most job candidates.
The most effective reply to a question, is a question.
For example, while the other candidates leap in with their reply and fumble their way through a poorly-thought answer, you buy some time to think, and get the chance to be specific when your reply is:
"What exactly would you like to know about me first?"
The employer will clarify and narrow down the question, such as "Well, what attributes do you feel you'd bring to this job?"
Now you can answer a more specific question and appear intelligent and thoughtful, rather than giving a broad answer to a vague question.
I trust this helps.
Kindly,
Slav

This question is usually the first one asked and is meant to be an icebreaker. It's purpose is to allow the interviewee to get the nerves out of the way while allowing the interviewer to size you up based on your clarity of thought, your value system, how well you express yourself and come across to people you've never met before.

You could start with basic info: your age, astrological sign (yes, some employers do hire on the basis of astrological sign), where you're originally from, where and when you got your degree, your current/most recent employer and your work there, etc. Do not mention your personal interests and inclinations at this time unless asked and do not go on and on -- keep it short and sweet. End it with something like "That's me in a nutshell" and a smile.

The answer to this question is extremely easy but involves practice because you know it will be asked more often tahn not.

I've been in the field for ____ years and most recently, I've been working for ________ where I've been responsible for ________________ (list several of the things that were in the original job description you saw). Before that, I worked for ______ where I did (again, list some things0. Keep your answer to no more than 45 seconds.

You will have confirmed the reasons why you are qualified for the job (because you've liste the skills they are looking for) and can rehearse answers to follow up questions they might ask about those experiences.

Good luck!

nicely, you only would desire to concoct each little thing the different answerers only suggested related to what you will desire to declare (you only would desire to % those beneficial solutions), besides, permit me supply you a chunk of advice that would make you earlier than all different applicants. the key's BE waiting. earlier the interview, make a script approximately your self containing in basic terms the substantial documents approximately you (comprise those suggested by ability of some of the answerers, yet make beneficial that is apt for the interest! never say your weight, peak, etc. who cares approximately that? have been given the factor?). determine you memorize it. undergo in concepts, while an business enterprise tells you to "tell approximately your self" he's supplying you with the prospect to sell your self! do no longer waste it! many times, the tell me approximately your self technique would desire to final for approximately 2 minutes. so practice a small script with YOU because of the fact the entire kit, determine you could greater healthful each little thing in 2-3 minutes. desire i helped you. ^_^

I hate it when they ask that question. Its too vague. I ask them what do they want to know then I spoon feed them the typical bullsh*t I know they're looking for. (Team player, reliable, honest, loyal, blah blah blah the list goes on)

I've learned after much gas money spent to dish them that BS and if the interview goes atleast an hour then it went well.

I first went to interviews with little in mind as to what they wanted but quickly learned what BS to dish out and how. The first interviews went crappy as I knew squat as to what they wanted to hear,,, but after many, i got a good idea of what they want to hear based off of what i was being asked.
Then I turn the tables and ask them a couple of questions so they know i know my sh*t and am really interested.
