I do like Wal-Mart but I agree that maybe they have gone a little too far these last few years ... people that have small businesses are going out of business because Wal-Mart has everything. I work in a small business with my parents, and I can see that side of it.

I can also see the other side, where people who don't have a lot of money like wal-mart because they can afford it. We save money when we shop there.

What it boils down to is small businesses need to get creative and sell things you wouldn't find anywhere else.

Thank goodness for Wal Mart. I am teaching English in China and this American Giant has been a true aid for me. They lower costs throughout in every community in which they appear. Why would you want to change anything?

I don't know what Wall mart are like in the US, but here in the UK, few years ago, they took over the supermarket group Asda, and in my opinion Asda has gone down, A lot of the time they seem to run out of goods. And they never have enough check out people.

You need to watch the south park episode that explored the effects of walmart upon the USA, very interesting.

I live in the UK and small indepedent retailers still have a hold on our economy especially in certain areas and they are considered part of our community. We are reluctant to loose them but its only a matter of time before a walmart style scenario happens here.

There's only two Walmarts in San Jose, CA but more Targets. There is no Walmart in Campbell, CA, but I may be wrong.
