I'm 20 and don't like modern America (from the past few decades). The moral decay in our country frightens me and I don't feel safe living here. But the other English-speaking countries (UK, Canada, Australia) have the same problem so I can't move there. I think some of the East and SE Asian countries still have morals and manners but I don't look like them and I can't speak their languages so it's not like I could move there either. I have nowhere to go and some days a feel like my birth was mistake, like I'm a dinosaur living in the 21st century or something.

Get over yourself. I mean this in a good way. Find something positive in your life and work from there. If you don't like modern America, change it.

Create the world you want to live in by starting around yourself and the ones you love. You are 20 years old. You won't even recognize your self personally when you are 25. You are on the cusp of many changes in your life.

Embrace the diversity of moral decay and sow your seeds of love into the barren ground. Cultivate these actions with positivity and watch your new world blossom in front of your eyes.

The world is yours. You hold the key to the lock on your own prison cell and don't even know it. Knowledge is the key to this lock.

Start by doing something positive for someone else and making their world a better place. By doing this you are chipping away at the decay that you see.

And remember this more than anything:

As the pattern gets more intricate and subtle being swept along is no longer enough. Sometimes we fail and anyone can lose. But pick up the pieces, there's more mountains to move.

You are maturing, and becoming aware of the news, the problems, and the corruption. I hate to say this,,but,,no matter where you try to run to, you will find the very same problems,,,,PEOPLE. Some are nice, yes,, but when some one has power, they tend to use it to their own end. It is true everywhere I know of,, and I have been in MANY countries,,,some are a lot worse than America! People think of themselves, and claim to be nice,, and the ones you trust the most, tend to be the ones that will take advantage of you. I am 57, and iget disgusted with cops, judges, lawyer, and politicians,,zero morals. I stand up, and fight for what is right. Quite recently, I was ticketed by an Arizonas State trooper,, and I proved the cop was a liar,,because I had videotape, and the judge offered a plea agreement. I said it will not happen, and you will not get a penny from me. I got the prosecuting attny to throw it out, because I said I can give the movie to the news. That is pretty bad,,,but, I EXPECT cops to be liars, and judges to condone it,,,,,,to steal our money. It is the same everywhere,,, so,, better off staying here, at home,, and instead of griping, or being afraid,,or running,,work to make yourself better, and your community better,, and resist drugs, and corruption, and FILM them!

I think in popular culture there is a lot of moral decay, but real people have a tendency to be a little smarter and kinder. That is, adults do (but there are plenty of jerks who ruin it for everybody.) Teens are and always will be jerks for the most part. And that's like that in any country, really, and rings true for every decade. Every generation outdoes the previous generation as far as outrageousness. And every time the adults are left wondering "What's become of the children these days?"

It seeems like a lot of the eastern Asian countries have it right, as far as morals and manners, but they have their vices like everybody else (ever heard of the underground Japanese sex market? It's pretty crazy...)

If you're interested in moving to Asia, though, you can always get a TOEFL certificate and teach english. You don't need to know Mandarin or Japanese or anything, just be a fluent speaker of English. Check out an agency called HESS. I'm actually thinking about doing it myself once I get my bachelor's degree.

I feel that I was born at the best possible time, 1949. America had just won World War Two, was at the height of industrial power and enjoying prosperity at home and prestige in the world. Sadly, America has been in decline for decades, but there is still much about this country that I love.

I like this question. I've been thinking the same thing lately but not necessarily in a morality way. I love being a gen-xer, the 90s were great but I often feel like I belong in the pre disco 70s
