WEST INDIES IS NOT A COUNTRY. IT IS A GROUP OF ISLANDS.IT CONSISTS OF MANY ISLANDS NAMELY JAMAICA, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO,CUBA,GUYANA,ST.LUCIA,BARBADOS, DOMINICA,GRENADA,ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA.
THESE ISLANDS HAVE SEPARATE CURRENCIES,GOVERNMENTS,ETC;

No the West indies are not a country. they are made up of countries and territories. a territory is an area of land,usually an island owned by a country far away. some countries of the west indies are Cuba,Jamaica,Haiti,Dominican Republic THE Bahamas.Territories include the Virgin Islands,cayman islands,Netherlands Antilles,Aruba ,Guadeloupe,and Puerto Rico.
Virgin Islands owned by U.S./U.K.
Cayman Islands owned by U.K.
Netherlands Antilles owned by Netherlands
Aruba owned by Netherlands
Guadeloupe owned by France
Puerto Rico owned by U.S.
