"shaq was the #1 guy and the reason they won. kobe isnt even the top ranked player among today's nba stars so this question is just stupid" stated by CPR

I hate when people say that Kobe wouldn't have won without Shaq. The same would be for Shaq, he wouldn't have won without Kobe. And CPR stated that he doesn't rank as one of the best today. Where the hell have you been, he's arguablly the greatest player in the game right now.

Not so fast... I give Kobe 2 more championships max. Wouldn't be surprised if it was 1 or none. Heres why:

Kobe's good enough to keep getting the lakers into the playoffs. But as they are configured, they have NO chance to win (or get out of the west).

That hurts them because it consistently keeps them out of the Lottery. That means no blue chip big man for the Lakers. The only way they get a good big man is through trades and free agency.

EVERY champion has a dominant big man... look up the rosters. (Bulls excluded-- but their bigs could play D)

That means Kobe has to go berzerk in a playoff run and make history. Put your money on that if you want to, but I'm not.

You have to remember - MJ helped to build a program that was never any good where Kobe came into one of the richest traditions with a full compliment of team mates with a domineering center in Shaq! MJ never had a center as strong as Shaq. Kobe better enjoy the 3 rings he has as he will not see another unless LA can bring in some help.

Well since at 28 Kobe has played 10 years in the league, while at 28 MJ had only played 6 years in the league, I'll give MJ a little leeway.

Kobe at 28 = 3 titles, and he has 10 more years so watch out for KB24

I'm not scared one bit. Kobe won't get three more unless he gets another "Shaq-caliber" teammate whom he could peacefully co-exist with and learns to trust his teammates and get them involved. Yes, he's still very young at 28 but he's already peaked at this point in his career, and having started too young in the league, wear and tear will surely get to him rather early. Whereas, MJ was still dominant at age 35, it might not be the case with Kobe. In two or three years, I guess, he'll start to decline.

If Kobe gets a supporting cast that wants to win, he can win 3 more titles. He just needs some key pieces in the puzzle.

Absolutely no longer. Jordan nonetheless could have a larger resume, larger stats, larger defender, and in general the excellent grace below stress that now we have visible. On that talkshow with Ahmad, Webber, and Payton, they have been arguing approximately whether or not Dwight Howard must be known as Superman. So Ahmad's like "Who's this?" and indicates a image of Shaq. Webber and Payton need to admit he is Superman. Then he is going, "Then who is this?" and indicates a image of Jordan. And Webber and Payton pass, "That's Jesus."

the lakers are two players away from being a serious contender...as it stands right now they are far from rings, kobe is talented but the big men are lost on transition and switch defense...bringing in a strong 1 who cant get posted up or another forward who can get his shot off any time AND play defense are necessary ingredients at this time...
