I have 2000+ songs on my Ipod. My home computer just got re-formatted, so I have nothing. If I try to download new music onto my Ipod, will all my other songs automatically delete since they will not be on my new version of Itunes!?

yes all your old music will be got but you can get your old songs off of your ipod by enabling disk usage and going into my computer and open you ipod folder, and then click on view and folder options and then click view at the top again and find show hidden folders and click on it then there should be a new folder there named "ipod_control" and open that and there shoudl be another folder called "music" thats all your music copy and paste it on your computer and then put them in i tunes. and your done

good luck☺

This is a sad situation, they are all gone unless you do a recover of your hard disk which is not guaranteed. You should always make a back-up of your itunes folder onto an external harddrive.

If you download new music it will overwrite the other files on your disk.

I just finished answering another question relating to this- computer hacking crimes should be considered acts of terrorism because they destroy peoples' lives! You may be able to retrieve your data if you have enough money to pay a data retrieval company something like $400!! I have been in your situation a number of times now, and , if you run into the wrong person or people, it does not matter whether you back up your computer or not!

Yes, if you had you iPod to update automatically. No, if you had your iPod to manage the music manually. But there are programs out there that let you extract those music files and get them into your clean computer. Sorry that I can't give you names, but I just know they exist.

Hope this helps and good luck!
