My ex and I have 2 kids together ( 10 & 11 ). We were together 14 years. He left me 3 months ago. Here is the problem, my kids want to buy me a gift for my birthday on Saturday. He has the kids this weekend. The kids want him to take them shopping to get me a present. They want to pick something out and give it to me on Sunday when they come home. Do you think that their dad should take them to get me something? Or do you think he should tell them no? I have a feeling that when the kids ask him, he will say no. I know that will hurt their feelings.

He is 41 and lives with his mother now. And if she finds out she will get mad at him, and tell him " don't you dare buy her anything" And whats really sad is he will listen to her, and let her be involved in our lives like that.

Well he for sure needs to get a life an not mommy run his.
As for your ex buying you a gift no, but take the kids shopping while he has them in order for them to bye you a gift sure why not, he has to get over it and not show this bitterness to the kids. He needs to act like a man.

He could help the kids buy you a present, but you shouldn't think of getting a present from him, or even accepting one. Remember, it's about your kids, and not you. It's possible that's one reason why you are divorced, things like this have come up, and makes it hard on them.

I think it would be nice if he did, because you are thier mother. I hope you get a present. If not, Happy Birthday!! And dont take it personally, go out with them next week and have them buy something for you or go out for a Birthday dinner. Just reassure them that your feelings wont get hurt.

this could be an exceedingly puzzling quandary to be in. i assume from what your asserting SHE ended the relationship with you & you prefer her back. offering you purchase her a modern without strings related i think of that could desire to be large. attempt some thing that could are available in handy for her stay away from something own, i.e. undies, fragrance, flora, track and so on. those type of presents could be construed to hold a deeper meaning than is meant. a remarkable theory could be a voucher to a wellness spar, that way she will pamper herself and have some day out. If somebody offered this present for me, it would tell me that they are thinking my wellness. Be VERY VERY VERY careful with the cardboard you % for her, and write an fairly short message, no i admire you nevertheless and so on, this might surely be pushing her. shop it straightforward say some thing like, costly ? wish you have a gorgeous Birthday, Love from [insert your call] XX [no extra effective than 2 kisses] i wish you patch issues up, yet interior the long-term in case you could in basic terms be pals thats properly worth having too isn't it! solid luck

It is totally up to him whether he takes the kids to get you a gift. He is not obligated to do so. He is your EX husband, he doesn't HAVE to buy you anything any longer, whether the kids want to get you a gift or not.

I don't think HE should necessarily buy you a present, but your kids should. Or at least make you something. Have your mom take them shopping if their other grandma is a btch.

Tell your kids not to buy you any gifts for your birthday until they are old enough to buy it themselves.

I would say no. You are not together anymore. If your kids do really want to give you something they can make it on your time. STOP BEING SO MATERIALISTIC.
