My new dress looks like a very formal bridesmaid's dress to me. The top part is a chiffon halter and the bottom is shiny material (silk?) and floor length. I was going to wear it to a different function, but I am not going now.

A wedding or graduation ceremony are about your only options. You could take the dress to a good seamstress and have it altered to make it more 'wearable.' Should cost you $35-50, depending on how drastic you go. Good luck!

possibly she replaced into on her thank you to a gala experience ... like the King and Queen's Royal Ball .... and he or she did not have time to flow abode and alter ....? :)))) I continuously placed on gold lame spandex and sparkly purple princess robes to all college activities.
