Your body has built up a psychological addiction to the person and your body reacts to what you perceive or call "love". Just like a drug addict and their drug...it's the same feeling and often takes more to recover from. Your body actually creates a chemical (endorphines) that is stronger than most illegal drugs. You want that feeling you get when the person is there or you know they belong to you or whatever. it's actually not rationa at all.

I don't think its actual love that hurts, but rather the disappointment that comes when those great expectations aren't met. Like being hit broadside by a big mac truck that you didn't even see coming!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like that its over and done. Thats when the hurt comes. The actual love is the most wonderful emotion you can ever experience...

Because when you are truly "in love" with someone you become one--and I truly believe that. That is why when your loved one is away you ache worse than the flu because you don't feel "whole". Once you start having children, those aches tend to go away and your children fill in the void-- but love hurts--- whoever wrote those lyrics to that song was a smart man.

But what is the alternative? Not to love at all? that's worse in my book.

Being sick without them is more about neediness. Missing them is one thing. I've been there, and use to think its because the love was strong. It actually was just because it was my first love, and it was ovewhelming. It made me dependent on her, and i lost myself in the experience. Relax, if you really love each other, it will pass as more time is spent with each other, and then there will be a day when you will appreciate your "alone" time.

I'm so sorry sweety, you deserve to be loved back as much as you love. Pain goes away, its just a reminder, do i want to try this again, or give up shut down for good.

Love is a rush... try stopping a roller coaster traveling 75 mph down hill in one word!!!! God gave us feelings and so thats why we hurt, feel good, are sad, happy, exicted, depressed, and also IN LOVE!!!

It doesn't. That's not love. It's some kind of obsession. Maybe you have a borderline or dependent personality disorder?

It isn't the love that hurts, it's the landing.

Because love is love and it has to be painful sometimes to make you realize what you have.
