You need to join the US Air Force if you want to become an astronaut, that's how they are recruited.

Most astronauts are selected from the united states air force. So if you want to join NASA immigrate to the US and join the airforce, if you dont already live in the US. They have special colleges for people who want to become airforce pilots and that would be your best bet. Good luck!

u don't need to join the air force. that's just a preferable background if you're going to be a shuttle pilot or commander. specialists could have degrees in biology, aerospace engineering, etc. But you should really try and contact NASA if you're interested. you should have excellent grades in math and science especially. and maybe english for people outside the States...

Even if you don't qualify for these positions, they will tell you what types of things they are looking for, and you can go about getting that experience. I am sure they are always looking for good mathematicians and computer engineers and technicians.

What prompts you to join NASA? Why NASA? Why not ISRO? In ISRO you can work on Chandrayan.
