Direct connection between cost of drugs and war on drugs. The more dangerous it is to deal in drugs the more money needed to buy the drugs,The increased cost of the drugs increases bank robberies, home invasions, and theft by addicts needing money to buy the drugs. The increased money involved makes dealing more lucrative and causes fights between dealers which lead to drive by shootings and gang violence.

The very things that happened during prohibition of alcohol in the 1920s are happening today. Bank robberies were common then just like they are today. Machine gun killings were common then as drive by shootings are today.

The inability to control quality and dosage make drugs more dangerous as well as lethal. Overdoses and toxic things in the drugs that don't belong there are what send addicts to the hospital.

The big negative effect is the cost to everyday people. Taxpayers pay the salaries of the police that fight the war on drugs. Taxpayers pay indirectly for the drugs as victims of crimes committed to get money to buy the drugs. Taxpayers pay for the prisons to house the "criminals" created by the war on drugs.
