I was just wondering how much money I could make if I was to fix (reformat, defrag, remove viruses, etc) an average Joe's (that don't know much about computers) computer?

I was thinking $50-$60 for a reformat (and install all software needed) or $20 an hour for defragging, etc.

The details haven't been worked out yet, but I was just wondering how desperate some people are for a "faster" computer.

Call your local computer stores, and major chain stores like compusa, bestbuy, ect... see what they charge, then undercut them by about 25 percent at least. Thats what you charge.

It really can depend on the market you are in. Why don't you do a comparison with the local businesses that offer those services? If you compare to a place you have to take your computer, you can charge a higher rate for the convenience of house calls.

Support.com charges $29 for these services. Their web site is a good place to start your competitive pricing analysis.
