David Gilmour's solo in Echoes for Pink Floyd. Alot of people never hear the riff because it's about 7 minutes into a 23 minute song and alot of people don't have the patience and miss out in such a awsome riff.

I think the best guitar riff ever is Slash's Sweet Child O' Mine riff... those eight notes are ridiculously catchy, but not in an overly obnoxious way. They start the song and carry it throughout

i WOULD say led zepp's "stairway to heaven" but...thats probably been said too many times already so i'll go with "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath. "Smoke on the Water" comes in a close third, but i believe that the Iron Man riff "speaks" impending doom.

Best EVER! gotta be "Millennium" by KILLING JOKE from their 1994 release 'Pandemonium'. I can never play this one loud enough (I have 675 watts),and never only once.
