"A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer"

Then its got more stuff and at the bottom it says

Beginning dump of physical memory to disk, and it has a number on the side that goes up like seconds.

I know I have a memory problem but is there anyhow I can fix this problem. Im using XP at momment.

You need to display the entire message. Typically, there is a hex number or error code that will give you more information.

Typically it is an OS or RAM issue. You can either reinstall windows or try replacing your memory.

techman is right! you need to get a hold of the hex error code, and search the microsoft website for the solution to fixing the problem.
a hex code may look something like: 0x000(but longer but normally starting with 0x or something x)
to be honest if you know you have a memmory problem why have you not already checked that the memmory modules are correctly firtted in the computer. your bios needs to be checked to make sure that it is supplying enough power and has correctly identifed the RAm modules.
this error could even be as a result of a virus no way to know for sure. if the computer refuses to boot normally you may have to boot to safe mode if that fails then there is nothing you can do until you get the ram modules replaced.
depending on the age of your computer and the module type you need a typical PC2700 module 1GB will cost you around £60 when delivered and sulpplied (purchased with) a RAm heat sink. ( i just ordered one set from dabs.com)

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
