I am a Gophers fan and was totally surprised by this hire. I never even heard his name mentioned before it happened. I was glad to see a "big name" coach come to take over the team, but, honestly know little details about Smith. I'd like to hear opinions on him from those familiar with his career. Will he help recruiting? He's GOT to be better that Monson was right?

I believe that the Gophers are going to be one of the best teams in the Big Ten in the next few years as they have one of the most talented, intelligent, successful coaches in the game! It is UK's loss and I'm a UofL Card Fan who looks forward to beating UK over the next couple of years as their program will surely decline!

Dude, this is travelling trash. I'm an old Kentucky fan who didn't want Tubby to begin with. His only win with Ky was a result of Pitino's legacy. Tubby can't do anything on his own. He just jumped ship before Ky people ran him out of town. Sorry, but it's true.

Good for Tubby, he's in a no win situation in Kentucky and he's not appreciated (he's all ready won them a NCAA Title), he's a great coach and you never hear about his kids not going to class or having problems off the court. He will bring Minnesota's program back to prominence.......
