Let's use the analogy of an egg. You can have egg white which is fine. You can have egg yolk which is fine. Both are nice. But to have an entire, complete egg, you need white and yolk.

I'm not sure but I think so at this moment. You can have a spiritual connection, but the physical changes. When in a relationship I think its hard to separate the two but not impossible.

between friends yeah. spiritual love as you call it has nothing to do with the flesh its loving a person for their personalty and the good you see in them.
while that is essential in a marriage as well. In a marriage there is joining of two into one in a marriage nothing is separate
in a friendship one threatens the other.

It's just like the trinity- spiritual, physical, and mental. If you find a significant other missing one of these connections with you then that person's not the "one"

I like what BigJake said. They come together in a relationship, like a connection.And sometimes being with that eprson physically makes you feel something deeper and comforts your soul and makes you feel like life is the best.
