I think you should go for it, it's not the gender you should worry about, but what's in the heart. You might have emotional feelings you never thought you had for that person. You might find an emotional bond somehow. As far as sex, take it easy, don't just jump right in - no pun intended. If you can talk to her alone about your initial feelings, it might help a lot.
