It sounds like a Beatles tune. Really. It isn't Iggy Pop and the commercial is recent to March 2007.

You may be talking about "Start," a hit in England for the group "The Jam" around 1980. I'm in Maryland, but I was a big fan of the group in college in the late '80s (even though the Jam had already broken up by then). I'm sure you could find the song on a Jam CD on Amazon. The lead singer, Paul Weller, then formed The Style Council and after that has been successful on his own. I'm sure Wikipedia could give you more on The Jam. I was happy to hear a Jam song on TV other than "A Town Called Malice," which has been in a lot of movies and commercials.
