i was wondering ok if i get the cable modem and the service can i talk my cable modem to a friends house who has comcast cable and still go online there?

im sorry i meant take my cable modem to his house an connect to the internet there.

You should ask Comcast. There might be a special filter that has to be on that line. It should work though. It won't hurt to try it though.

No, you cannot use someone else's service by connecting two cable modems together. A single cable modem needs to be provisioned by the internet provider, such as Comcast. Every cable modem has a MAC address that needs to be registered on Comcast's CMTS and provisioning system.

If your friend is next store, you can set up a wireless router and use his internet connection wirelessly.

If they have Comcast highspeed also yes. but than why would you need your cable modem, your friend should have one
