My son does the same thing. I try to get him to put his head back and I use one hand to block his face from any run off. I also try to lay him down in the tub to rinse. I hope one of those can work for you.

We had this trouble with our first child and tried everything including a sort of plastic tennis hat that stopped the water from running down her face when we were rinsing the top. Now with our forth I don't seem to notice the problem, probably because I have become more skilled at rinsing as much off as I can with a minimum of water in there faces and also because I know it has to be done and just ignore the complaints and keep telling them to look up and hold up there chin while I'm rinsing

Put your arm in the tub and let the baby lay on it to feel secure. Then show the toddler how to play peek-a-boo with a dry washcloth. Rinse hair with washcloth covering babies eyes.

I grew up with my mum being a hairdresser i remember her sitting me in the bath you can put ear plugs or even blu tac in their ears 2 keep water out tilt their head back and rinse that way...it a difficult task for any parent to do explain to your son what you will be doing so he is aware of the movements you and procedure

They make little rinsing visors that fit snugly to the forehead and keep the water from running into the child's eyes. I've seen them at Walmart, but can't remember what they are called.

I can totally relate. My son *hates* getting water on his face, and he screams and cries too.

But I found this great rinsing cup that has helped alleviate the problem - it fits up against the child's forehead.

You've just got to make sure to tip his chin up (or ask him to look up at the ceiling).

Good luck!

hokay, totally relate to you ... I made a game out of it with my toddler, i tell her to close her eyes and blow raspberries when the water goes over her face, it blows the water away from her mouth and she enjoys the noise and the fact that it sprays all over me... if the doesn't work, use a large cup , tilt him back and pour it over his head so the the water doesn't get on his face at all, but make sure he is firmly supported so he doesn't freak out any further. good luck

When my children were little i had the same problem. I folded a washcloth for them and let them hold it over their eyes, while I took a cup of water and slowly pour it over their head. If you can get him/her to tilt head back also, that helps.

get him one of those caps from wal mart. it looks like a poker hat and its made from foam. on getting him used to it, i think the more he takes baths hell relize that is something that needs to be done. or try this too tell him exactly what your are going to do for instance"im going to turn the bathtub on, im going to put bubbles in it and so on" I used to work with the elderly and they may not be kids but people are more at ease when you tell them what you are going to do and itll relax u too. remember kids can feel your emotions so if you are calm so will your child.
