Lions and tigers are both members of the Big Cat Family, both Carniverous-Meat eaters and both member of animal family and a paart of keeping the balance in the animal kingdom. If there were no predators who hunt in large part grazers-grassland animals, fruit, berry eaters etc there soon would be no grasslans, berris, fruits and the grazers would starve. The Obvious difference is that they live on different continents-Lions are found only in Africa while tigers in the Far East-India,China and the northers parts of Russia-near the Chinese etc borders, Lions live in Prides(with only males who have no pride(group of females) being solitary while Tigers once Adult are solitary-males and females. Tigers hunt by themselves once adult while only solitary lions hunt alone, the pride hunts in a group-mostly the females hunt in a group while at time the Males do join but the males function is to make more lions(cubs) and to protect the female lions-will fight other lions(males who want to take the pride away from them, other predators etc. Tigers are very rapidly declining in numbers because being hunted and killed for their fur(atrocity to wear real fur) in Russia and paarats of China only approx 300 still alive in the wild used to be thousands. Lions are hardly ever killed for fur because except for the males Mane not very attractive fur so safe from the greed of man and since they live in prides much harder to kill. Another tragic similarity is that both are declining-the lions in Africa because man is stealing their land-not much land left for them and NOW GLOBAL WARMING is causing Droughts that last longer than ever where Africa's wild animals including the lions are dying.Tigers are declining also because man is moving into their land and also killing them to make their fur into coats.
