There are many reasons why he's different and unique from other players in the NBA. First of all, his desire to be the best player that he can be and his desire to win. I don't think he's ever satisfy with his game level, always looking for improvement, and as you can see he gets better every year. His competitiveness nature drove him to dominate every part of the game. A difference from other players, he doesn't have any weaknesses in his game. If don't believe me think about any other player in this league and you will find weaknesses in them. He's a player that wants to win every game and what people hate about him is that he's not playing to makes friends and that's what I like about him, he's old school he wants to win no matter what. Some people might argue that he's not a team player yet, but anybody that understands the game of basketball have to known that as a leader there are some parts during the game where you have to take over as well some parts where you have to involve your teammates, that's the last piece that he understood at the end of last year. He is the best player in NBA.

What makes Kobe unique from other player in the NBA is how evenly distributed his skills are. You see many great player in the NBA like Shaq, KJ, Gilbert Arenas, Lebron James, CAmelo, etc. All of these player are very good in a couple of categories but they are lacking significantly in other. Lebron has a monster post game and can score, but Lebron cannot defend whatsoever. This is the same as Carmelo. Gilbert can also score from anywhere but his ability to defend and make the players around him are his weaknesses. KJ is a model PF. He can defend, score, and rebound, but as so many PF's and C's, he has difficulty with perimeter shooting. Kobe Bryant is obviously a very dangerous scorer. Tonight he put up 60 against the Grizzlies and that tied an all time record for three consecutive games scoring over 50 points. But Kobe can also pass the ball( 6 assists/game), rebound the ball( 5/game), defend the ball(i think its 6 or 8 time all defensive team), and all around take control of an entire game. Because Kobe's talent can be seen in so many areas on the court, he is very unique. Other players thaqt had this even distribution of talent was MJ, Magic, Bird, and many other hall of famers( I am not trying to compare Kobe with these hall of famers, I am just stating that all these players also had a very balanced game with only one stat significantly higher.)

How about the fact that he is the most selfish player in the NBA.
People that say that say he had to put up 60 so that they could win need to pull their head out of they're butt. In the last 3 games, in which he scored at least 50, they were against 3 of the worst teams in the conference. I have a hard time believing that they couldn't beat Memphis without Kobe taking half of the teams shots.
That is why as long as Kobe is playing they will never win another championship...not unless he learns to be unselfish. It is important for everyone to know that the only reason he got the first few was because of Shaq. Kobe will never play alongside anyone that talented again cause he has proven that he thinks he is better than everyone else. Jordan knew he needed his teammates, that is why he is the greatest of all time. Kobe is still trying to do it all himself.

Kobe has a understanding of the game that most players dont have. He had the experience of a pro early...lockdown D to a well placed elbow to gain position over an opponent.

kobe has done all the right steps to developing as a top prospect in the NBA. hes practiced on a potent move (his fadeaway and reverse lay up) and he further increased his defense as well. The most important thing he did through his 10 year career was he asked veteran players for advice and had the guide of Joe "Jellybean" Bryant ..his father

I'm not a Kobe fan but I have to admit he has an intense desire to win, never comes into camp out of shape, and tries to lead by example. He also is a student of the game and pattern his game after the best MJ, and this is what Kobe said early in his career.........

1 reason, he is the greatest NBA player ever, not the greatest basketball player who ever played in the NBA, that would be his airness, MJ, but the greatest NBA player, despite the controversies and struggles, around the media and the stars watching at staples, in and out of the court, Kobe has it all, the poise and the passion being a NBA star, a true NBA player...
