As of right now, I'm going to give it to Luongo. He has definitely been the most valuable to his team over the course of the season, and really kept them afloat as the team adjusted to Vigneault's defensive system... Now they team is in sync and they're flying.

There's too much love for Crosby. The hype is way too strong, and I think people are only looking at the points. Points really aren't everything, and if they are... Then why no mention of Big Joe Thornton? That guy has been on a TEAR lately, and is only 6 points behind Crosby. I'd personally LOVE to see him pass Crosby in the point totals months after people said Crosby had it all locked up. Thornton is a beast, and I think at least deserves recognition.

Luongo SHOULD get it. He has done miracles with not always the most experienced defense in front of him. And Vancouver has changed their whole system because of his skills. So the players in front of him have been a work in progress. You can't compare Jersey to that as they have had a trap system for years, and their defense, AND defensive forwards have always played the trap. Obviously he has better numbers.

But the powers that decide these things are in the east and they are fast asleep for the night before Luongo is even getting his first shot on net. Crosby will probably get it. Even though Luongo took a team that didn't make the playoffs last year into first in the division. Crosby was there last year with all sorts of points, so hard to argue he was the reason for their improvement. Pittsburgh improvement this year has been more experienced goaltending as well, so I don't think Crosby should get it.

As sad as it is that is not how they award the MVP honors. The fact that a player comes into an organization and changes it around really doesn't mean much without the stats. Luongo has stats that are toawrds the top of each important Goalie category but Stats are the most important thing when it comes to voting for the MVP.

Unfortunately, that is why Sidney Crosby will win the MVP. The argument you make for Luongo is the same for Crosby, who as a kid has led a team of kids to be in contention to clinch their division for the first time in a long time. Crosby has exactly what the voters want to see and those are high numbers. Like I said, that is sadly the most important thing when it comes to voting for the MVP.

Luongo or Lecavalier deserve it but Crosby will get it. The Pens would not of had an outstanding season like they did without Crosby but they have so much talent so its definatly a team effort. Luongo & Lecavalier are both huge assets to their team and for Luongo - he is carrying his team. For that i hope the Canucks win the Cup this year!!

Brodeur. He Has 12 shutouts this season, on a low scoring team that is New Jersey he gives them the chance to win each night and can easily steal a game. He's second in wins, third in GAA, and tied with Luongo in save%. New Jersey isn't the defensive power house that is has been in past seasons but Brodeur has kept them a force to be reckoned with. Crosby, yes he is amazing, but Brodeur is just insane.

The MVP will most likely go to Crosby but in my opinion the player who has done the most for their team is the rookie Niklas Backstrom for the Wild. With him in net and Gabby healthy they will make a run at the cup.

I agree that Luongo is MVP. He plays almost every game and carried the whole team on his back the first half of the season. Now that the rest of the team is firing, they are the team to beat and everybody knows it.

Brodeur will be tops in that category, with the most shots faced top 3 in GAA and SP% and the most wins with a low scoring team he will most likely get the MVP. don't get me wrong Luongo is on fire and had a great year but i think hell finish in 3rd behind Crosby 2nd and Brodeur 1st.

Crosby will win it, it's a virtual lock based on all the media attention he's getting.

I won't say choosing him would be "wrong", but Brodeur DESERVES it, without a lot of fanfare he is having probably the best season in the history of the NHL for a Goalie.
