I've noticed that many so-called "liberals" are just as bigoted and narrow as the people they criticize and oppose, just about different things.

For example, I have the right to not have sex before marriage and find a man that will respect that, and if a "liberal" ridicules or won't respect and grant me that right then he is no better than a conservative that tries to force their lifestyle or point of view on someone. Or if a liberal is easy on violent crime then he is violating my right to be safe. Or if a liberal thinks that black people can't make a living for themself or think for themself then they are also being bigoted and racist.

The term "Liberal" does not by definition mean not bigoted. They just tend to seem that way because they don't advocate conservative B.S. I am curious about what things you percieve liberals to be narrow-minded about, but of course, no one is perfect.

well, If you don't discriminate against some point of view, then you have no point of view at all. If I am for equality, there is actually nothing wrong with wanting to stop the KKK from getting their message across. If your goal is multiculturalism, a philosophy that wants to ban multiculturalism simply can not be part of your accepted membership in the multicultural club.

Perhaps that is more esoteric than you were aiming at, but I went there.

I may want women and other minorities to have equal opportunities and pay. Does that mean I have to support preferential treatment for said minorities? Not necessarily. I don't think it's non-liberal of someone to want equality without preference. If they TRULY want equality and aren't using a smokescreen.

I may support all religions, except for when certain aspects disgust me, such as honor killings in Islam. Am I really ready to accept all religions if I can't accept honor killings? Maybe not, but I don't think that detracts from my liberalism, it's a limit that I am simply unwilling to go past.

I generally think of liberalism as being for equality of all people, women, minorities, gays, etc... And supporting people over the interests of big business. I'm not sure how you are defining liberalism.

EDIT: You're correct, those examples are of small-minded people. Clearly not all liberals have a problem with a girl being a virgin at whatever age. And I have to say that 'ridicule' on a personal level from a lib is FAR from having a conservative LEGISLATE that you may not have access to sex education, contraception, or abortion clinics.

No there is no such thing as a totally and purely liberal person...just as there is no such thing as a totally and purely conservative person.
...and "the right" and "the left" are just two wings on the same bird of prey.

No there is no notion of a true liberal erson on this planet nor will they ever be. As huans we are born with an inate objection to certain things, we have opinions and judgemant on people whether we would lke to think so or not. So in answer to your question - no there is not.

Anyone that tries to "force" you to have sex with anyone else isn't a liberal: he/she is a pervert.
