Beatrice is right. You need a detergent that is a "he" (high efficency) type. It is low-sudsing. Otherwise, you will destroy your washing machine.

I've never heard of using a specific brand, but I do know that you need to use a special front-loader detergent rather thab your normal liquid or powder. This is because detergents designed for front loaders cause too much sudsing to occur for the smaller capacity of a front loader.

No this is totally false this statement, you don't have to use a certain brand, just any brand low suds detergent will do the job just fine, those repairmen they always tell you that you have to use something the manufacture recommends because this is what they are told to do, so don't worry just use any brand low suds only for front loaders and you will be okay. Good Luck !

Soap is Soap, quality of soap makes a difference, so here comes your answer if you are using a top loader, you can use ANYTHING detergent, if its a front loader, use the HE detergents. Kenmore, MIELE arent only trying to buddy up the chemical companies to SELL.
