the keys with more than one function like the numbers and the puncuations marks are somehow screwed up i think my daughter pressed a key on the key board that only allows it to type the upper functions like the symbols instead of the numbers can anyone help

Power down the computer and restart it. This may help reset the keyboard.
Your daughter may have pressed a special function key that messed up the upper & lower case definition.
Make sure the CAPS LOCK key is off.

It could be that the regional settings for the keyboard has been changed, to check go to Control Panel and find Regional and Language options then go to Language Tab and then click on Details, make sure that EN is listed there.
U might have a language toolbar somewhere on the bottom right, which u can click and check if your keyboard is in EN (United States).
