Every time I give him a blood worm, usually his stomach puffs up to a dangerous size the next time I check on him, usually about 10-16 hours later at most. It looks like he's constipated, but that usually lasts more than a couple of days, plus I can tell he's still "going." He doesn't look like he's sick, and I just don't feed him for that day and his stomach is considerably smaller the next day. For now, I guess I don't feed him any more blood worms. I'm pretty sure that I'm not overfeeding, my sister has a betta that I feed the same way as mine, and his stomach is fine.
Pretty much all I want to know is why is that happening and is it possible for fish to have allergies?

I guess it's theoretically possible that your betta could be allergic to bloodworms. I know of no studies into betta allergies, but that doesn't mean there haven't been any and it sure doesn't mean they don't have allergies.

I do think though the more likely cause is a touch of constipation. Bloodworms are a very rich food and can cause constipation rather easily. As long as it's passed, he's not in any danger.

We could sit and guess as to the possible causes all evening, but that really wouldn't get us any where. You're going to always come back to the same answer, don't feed that particular betta any more bloodworms.

Interesting question though, I'm going to investigate that a bit. Thanks!

Considering your fish has lived with a swollen belly for four months (I checked your previous questions), your food isn't the problem.
