x + y = 14
which also means
x= 14 - y right?
well you plug in x
3x=4y
so
3(14-y) = 4y
then distribute
42 - 3y = 4y
add 3y to both sides
42 = 7y
then to find y
42/7
that equals 6 =]

y=14-x
3x=4(14-x)
3x=56-4x
3x+4x=56
7x=56 divide both sides by seven so to get value of x
and then u get
x=8
then replace 8 for x in the first equation
8+y=14
to get y add -8 to both sides of the equation and u get
y=6
thus y=6 and x=6

properly in all, he's studied 13/21, so B does not be your answer. Now you will possibly desire to subtract 13/21 from 21/21, on account that it fairly is the full type. So the respond could be A.) 8/21 :) i wish this facilitates! i'm like ninety% helpful it fairly is the ultimate answer, sorry whether that is not.

Whoa, this is not pre-algebra!! Just solve both for y, then set them equal to each other. So,
y=14-x and
y=3x/4 put them equal to each other and solve for x
14-x=3x/4
4(14-x)=3x
56-4x=3x
56=3x+4x
56=7x
x=8
then put x=8 into one of the equations
8+y=14
y=14-8
y=6
hope this helps, if you need further explanation, e-mail me

x+y=14
x + y - x = 14 - x
y = 14 - x
3x=4y
3x/4 = 4y/4
3/4 x = y

x+y = 14
y=14-x
then,
3x= 4(14-x)
3x-3x= 56-4x+3x
-56 = -x
x=56
hope this clears things up. good luck
