Without David Mustaine, Metallica never would have attained the heights they did and this is my reasoning...Kill'em All, Ride the Lighting, Master of Puppets...best Metallica albums ever. If you listen to David and Megadeth you can hear Metallica emmulate them rather than the other way around. I truly believe, if it wasn;t for David, Metallica would have died right from the start. James and David were metal. Lars can go wack off in front of the mirror fo rall I care since all he did was ride the coat-tails of one he was able to kick out and the other that didn't see the wolf among sheeps clothing.

Fitting, the song, Of Man and Wolf.

David Mustaine, James Hetfield, Cliff Burton....there's your genius.

Do you agree?

David had the composition, James brought out the direction, Burton brought out the depth...each one of them had a different heart, but equal heart. Lars was just a business man that banked on technical.

My point was this...if David and James never met or collaborated, Metallica never would have made it pass their first album since from Kill to Master, it's ALL David in there!!!

Please, no reference to the Black album; a Lars selling point only, nothing more than mass marketing to an audience ...if sell out ever had a true meaning, the black album is it!!

That's Lar's legacy, right there, Black Album.

Dave Mustaines a **** head, if Dave Mustaine would have stayed with the band Metallica would have been screwed, I mean come on the guy poored beer on Rob M (can't spell his
last name) there first bass player, I don't care if Dave Mustaines a better guitarist than James Hetfield. If you whatched the show on Vh1 after metallica made a come back, the show when Metallica ruled the world, they explain
why they kicked Mustaine out. I'm a fan of both Metallica and Megadeth, both James Hetfield and David Mustaine both went into rehab. Did Megadeth cut there hair off no, thats why I don't like the new Metallica.

I agree 100%. Lars' ego has basically killed Metallica. Megadeth has at least stayed true to their sound, for the most part. I think Metallica really lost their edge when they started letting Bob Rock produce their albums. This guy has also ruined other bands as well. To me...Dave Mustaine and Cliff Burton were the reasons Metallica had such a huge following when they started out.

I've heard this question many a time, it's true that Dave Mustaine made Metallica, and Lars well sucks. Dave Mustaine made Metallica, he's got crazy guitar playing skills, and can play better then almost anyone else. But when Dave Mustaine left they kept his ideas and used them to make them mainstream, and Dave Mustaine went to Megadeath and played the style he's used to, which is why Old Metallica sounds like Megadeath, and why the new metallica isn't as good. There trying to make music without there "mentor" so to speak.

Now that you really think about it..yeah, Metallica would DEFINITELY not be where they are (in the metal world) without Mustaine. Like you said, those 3 albums you mentioned are pretty much his stuff just altered by Hammett.

If you want another example, listen to Metallica's "The Four Horsemen" off the Kill 'Em All album and listen to Megadeth's "Mechanix" off the Killing album...which sounds better

yes. dave mustaine is underrated his back to marty friedman was no match for jamesa and kirk. the playing on every megadeth (i know at least to youthanasia) is beyond amazing. rust in peace and countdown is megadeth at it finest. so far, so good so what and peace sells we no ride the lightning and masters BUT megadeth always did it their way, and lasted the longest without wankin out -562%. metallica is metallica they are two different creatures, if you wanna argue it you say could say that every band ripped off somebody else.

keep in mind that kirk took lesson from joe satriani

Hetfield has the trademark voice in my opinion and their best album is definitely the Black one...Actually that was officially their last good one!
