this is about Clark kent in smallville. Why can't he finish his learning with the crystals so he Can get on w

he wastes a lot of time running behind Lana, and this is putting a drag on the series.Why, isn't he doing other things outside of his home town like everyone else? he's in the same place as before he graduated from high school, going nowhere.
