A few day before our first anniversary, I pretended that I didn't know her. I walked up behind her and tapped her on her shoulder and said, "Excuse me, Miss, but you are such a beautiful woman. I just have to ask, are you seeing someone?" she just grinned and played along, saying she was single. I asked her if she would mind going to get coffee with me, and she agreed. We went to a coffee shop and 'got to know one another.' When we finished our coffee, I asked her if I could walk her home, she agreed. When we got to her room, I asked her out on a date. She was being such a good sport. She agreed and wrote down my number on the corner of her notebook as if she didn't know it. "How's this Saturday?" I asked, knowing that it was our anniversary.
That Saturday, I picked her up at promptly 7:00p.m. We went out to her favorite restaurant and then to watch a production of "Hairspray" that the university was putting on. Then, I drove her home. When I walked her to her door, she leaned in to give me a kiss before opening her door, and I backed away saying that I don't kiss on the first date. The look on her face was priceless! Then I dropped the act, truth was I had wanted to kiss her all night. Anyway, we went in her room, and she gave me my present, and a little more. : )

His birthday is on December 25th. He had to work overnight the 24th, so I rushed home from work at 4 pm, bought everything I would need, and then dropped him off at the subway station at 6 pm. Then, I:
Blew up three dozen purple and black balloons (colors of his favorite sports team), and put stars and streamers all over the walls and doorways of his apartment. I also went home, made him his favorite carrot cake from scratch, as well as prepared all the ingredients to make his favorite dinner the next day. I snuck into his blog, changed the theme and wrote a dedication entry about how much I loved him, and asked all of his contacts to come wish him a Happy Birthday. It took me until 5 in the morning to do this. Then, at 7 am, I picked him up, took him home, gave him his "birthday gift" (heehee), and napped with him. Then I made him dinner and put on his favorite movie, and then dropped him off to go to work again. It was exhausting, but he loved every minute of it - he said all anyone ever cares about is Christmas - nobody has ever put such a focus on it being his birthday.
(Edit: Oh, uhm, I just realized this is under the LGBT category. I'm not any of those, but I still think what I did was sweet! Or, we can pretend he's a chick. Whichever.)

This relationship has since ended... but early in our relationship I wanted to do something completely breathtaking for him.... so, I arranged to have an absolutely gourmet meal, my treat....
When we left the restaurant, I walked him to his car and I gave him a compilation C.D. that I had created earlier that day along with roses. I had invited him to spend the night w/ me so I wanted him to listen to the C.D. on the way.
He said that he wanted me to meet some of his family and it would mean the world to him if we could go and visit them for awhile... while this threw a wrench in my plans somewhat, I indulged him...
I met his family and they were the kindest, most wonderful people ever! We finally made our way to my house... .Earlier that day I bought the movie "The Notebook" and had bought champagne and dipped strawberries in Chocolate and served it to him on a silver tray....
It was the most romantic and wonderful evening.... He cried and told me that he had never had anyone do anything like that for him before... It was such an intimate night...

I paid for his reentry into the USA through the underground network (coyotes/polleros) from Mexico after he was deported. We live together in Mexico now. I quit my career, went to school and started a new career in a new country to be with him.
Beat that. Anybody give up a kidney or something? Just kidding, I love it here.
