I've been wondering this for a while. Is it falling in love? Having fun? Living life to the fullest? Living on the edge? Does anybody have any (please not sarcastic, I know it's a weird question) answers?

I just realized my age might be important here...Maybe that'll get people to not put drug references on here. Probably not, but I can always dream. :) I'm 14.

Hi There,
Well, that is a great question. The most important thing in life? That my dear is a question that only you can answer, You may get a million answers, but that is what each indivdual thinks is important. What is your passion? Do you get a full heart when you see your child, or grandchild? Are you amazed by looking at the ocean or at the mountains. Do you ever think what it would be like to save a life? Do you ever stop and really think about what life would be like if you couldn't see, or hear or walk? What if you had limbs missing? I know this all sounds really heavy, but life is a gift, but it is also a responsibility. Life is wonderful. Think what you are passionate about and work toward it...one day you will see what the most important thing in life is----to you.
Good luck.

The fact that you are posting this question at the age of 14 tells me that you are a serious, intelligent, thinking young woman, and whatever you eventually choose to do with your life, you will do well.

The most important thing you can do is to find something useful to do with your time on this planet, something that will benefit your corner of the world.

It takes time. Be open to the possibilities and tune into your interests and talents over the next few years of high school. Go to college to learn something that interests you. And don't worry if you change your major while you're there. Many students do. Eventually you'll find what you're looking for, though you'll definitely screw up sometimes on the way. When that happens, give yourself a break and move on.

People who live long, healthy and productive lives are those who have fallen in love with their work.

And again, I can't stress it enough, find something to do in this world that will benefit your corner of it. You don't necessarily have to change the world, just a little piece of it.

There's a story about a couple walking along the beach at low tide. When the woman sees that there are thousands of clams stranded on the beach about to die she starts tossing them into the ocean one by one. Her husband asks, "Why are you bothering? There's thousands of them and you can't possibly throw them all back into the ocean so they'll live." Bu as she tosses each one she says to him, "You're right, but I'm helping this one, and this one, and this one, to live."

What does that even mean? falling in love? having fun? living life to the fullest? living on the edge?
Do you mean should you go rock climbing, or white water canoeing! Or go to Europe and backpack.. maybe find a sexy Italian man. I think those are all ideal means of tasting what we call happiness, fulfillment from the emptiness that is in each one of our lives.
Because I've done Europe, gone whitewater, rock climbed, rappel ed, snowboarded at breakneck speeds, "fell in love", fell hard out of love, ect.
But is this the most important thing in my life.. no. The Most important thing in my life is my relationship with Jesus Christ. So I pray the rosary everyday and go to Mass, and my life has never been better. My life has meaning, my pain has meaning, my joy has meaning, my love has meaning. Everything I do that I do for Christ earns me eternal rewards in heaven. So if I am called to suffer than I suffer for Christ, and I see conversion in my family, I see people's lives getting better, my best friend making it through a war, I've seen a guy's leg grow in a healing service, I've seen the Eucharist bleed in Portugal. I have conversations with the Blessed Mother, she told me that the last girl I asked out was going to give up dating for lent, and a week later when I asked her out, she said, I gave up dating for lent. Everyday my life is an adventure with the Lord, whether it be mediating on his life, or experiencing his love in my life, there is nothing more satisfying. Experiencing Jesus, is experiencing God, and it's life changing.

I am a bit older - 60 + I feel mentally much younger, I just have body ailments that I say to myself will go back to the way they once were. What was important to me at age 5 - 21 - 40 and today, is to create time to do things that I want to do with my friends / love ones & alone. In simnplistic terms I would say to be able to inter-act with my enviroment.

Wow! You're 14 and asking yourself this really trick and important question! I think that you'll find out at the right time! I strongly suggest tough, that you dive yourself in philosophy as soon as you feel like! Read! And answering your question: There's no simple answer to this. You have to find what you want to do with your life... you'll have plenty of options... Hope I have helped, but I'm not sure (who's sure?)

living a quiet good life. not being in debt, or answerable to anyone. everything in life has a cost. most things we enjoy are bad for us in the long run. so moderation and self disciplin is required.

(Your question is not wierd at all; it just shows that you are intelligent! I have been examining this very same question lately.)

The best moments in my life have been when I was falling in love, and in moments of great passion (during that same time, of course!). If we are honest, we all live for that, dream of it, don't we??

Seriously, I think the most important thing is to be alive to enable one to experience life which is much better then being dead or non-existant.

It depends what you desire to happen in your life time, for some it's money, sex, helping others, preaching and so on.
