my mothers yard is over run by snakes,not just friendly gardner snakes.my 7 yr old niece and 4 yr old nephew live there with her

get a skunk . i am serious if you have one of them they kill snakes . you can get a skunk fixed so it wont spray .
i think that the jack russel dog may do this as well but that i am not sure of.

Mow more often, birds kill snakes, attract birds to the yard--there is sulphur you can put down to repel snakes but if it rains often then you have to do it again. Teach the children to stay away from the snakes or give each of them a short handled hoe and show them how to snuff a snake. I lived with my grandma when I was 9 in Va and there were copper heads all over the place.
If the grass is kept short they won't venture out as often, in the evening usually. Clean up debris in the yard--bird feeders, I used to see birds snap the head off of a snake like it was a simple task. In NC. You might also put out some bug killer and some rat poison---they are hanging there for a reason.

get a pet or two for the yard.snakes hate dogs and cats!also,keep the grass mowed at all times,and pick up anything that they might hide under!they love to hide under anything laying around that gives them cover!

We have 4 cats and the only snakes we have seen so far have been cat toys , they were all killed by the cats. so far so good.
