E.T. visiting us fact or fiction?

There are a lot of theories that indicate that intelligent life is quite likely to form throughout the universe. However the biggest question you have to ask yourself; is this: Unless the Aliens are from around here they're expending massive amounts of resources to visit us; why? To use the standards of Scientific judgment; people throughout the ages have reported visits from beings who claim to be from the stars. Everyone can't be making it up or deluded; people are seeing and experiencing something.

I think if E. T. visited us it would be more like Independence Day or War of the Worlds. It would be galactic beings of super intelligence looking for a new home like we are going to be doing if we don't start taking care of our planet.
