A Strat is pretty much a model of a Stratocaster. Strat's are made by Squier, which is owned by Fender, who makes the Stratocaster. The Strat are therefor obviously not as good, but usually they are a decent for the guitar for the price.

they're the same, although squire's affinity line calls them "strat"(a telecaster model is called "tele"). in the 80's, fender made a stripped down model called "the strat", and they're pretty rare.
