I have been fighting for my SSI for almost three years. Less than 1 year ago, after my second turn down (reconsideration) I took my medical records.....that I collected myself....to an attorney to hire him.....because I was anticipating having to go before the judge.

In the meantime, a great doctor of mine obtained a special form and submitted it for me....and got me approved. Now, there is no need for a hearing and I have been awarded.

So, the only thing this attorney has done for me is to file one form, that I could have easily done myself. My question is......does he deserve full commission, now?

Attorney expects to receive full commission regardless as to how you obatain approval.
And you can bet that its part of your package.
Attorney to be paid before final settlement is made to you.
You can speak to that attorney buy don't expect them to settle for anything less.

Like a realtor. You hire them to sell home and then find a buyer yourself..
They get commssion. You don't cut them out..

Social Security will pay them---.Attorney of record.

No he shouldn't get the full commission. If you have signed an agreement, he may end up getting it though. You might need to sit down and have a talk with him.
