Judge Joe Brown , Judge Mathis, People's Court, etc.

Anyone know if they're real or fake? Do the people on the show get paid for being on there?

Proof would be really great if you guys could find any.

My dad watches these shows all the time, and I was just seeing if they were real or not. People go on those shows for the stupidest reasons.

They are real. I know because someone I know was on Judge Mathis. He surprisingly received a call from the show one day. He didn't ask to be on, they apparently search for cases all over the US and contact people. He did get some money to be on the show, but not a ton. Oh, and he won!

Real, as far as I know. I applied online for Judge Joe Brown because I had 2 old roommates that owed me $2400 and they refused to pay me. I sent an email describing my story and I heard back from them a few weeks later. They said I qualified to be on the show. I chickened out and decided not to reply to that email. As for getting paid, I couldn't figure that part out. As far as they knew, I could have made the story up just to get on the show. I don't really understand how it really works.

A friend of mine was on one of those shows once because she was cat sitting for a guy that went out of town and the cat got sick. She tried taking the cat to the vet and paid the vet bills, but the cat died. The man came back from vacation and tried to sue her because the cat died. It was ridiculous. She ended up winning the case and the guy had to pay her back for the vet bills she covered for him. It was all real and as far as I know, she didn't get any 'extra' money for appearing on the show, only the money that the court granted her.

Another person I know was also on because someone was suing him over some motorcycle sale that went bad. I don't remember who won the case but, again, it was a real lawsuit.

No, they are not real most of those shows are coached like reality show specially Judge Judy.
She is actually not practicing law even though she is technical a real judge. A real judge is fair unlike her.

I don't have any real proof. But at the end of the credits of the People's Court, at least, there's a disclaimer thing that states that both litigants were paid for their appearance.

I don't think there 100% real. I think a lot of it is rehearsed or coached. I know if I had to deal with Judge Judy's crabby a**, I'd beech slap her. lol If you read the small writing at the end you'll see there compensated for being on the show.

Fake..and no offense to viewers..but, in a real courtroom, some of those people would be spending jail time for their stupidity...
