Yep, depending on your "level." New accounts start with a limit of 20 per day.

Goes up from there as you gain points for posting.

you have only been here a short time
spamers and post pushers abuse the right to ask questions
questions that move to page two never really get answered ,
so a usless time wating sabiteure can get inconveniant truths to the next opage by only using a few of thier multi[ple low postin ids [and never answer a question ]
to be fair i will go see how many questions you asked
and answered
you will be able to infur you earn points only by annswering
noting the fitst didnt bother to read the question but seems here by honest reason [to promote some star wars sight ?
the 2 de reply was clearly point gamming [sorry i shouldnt judge
but you get the idea
i could get a new id and shut the board down with stars wars blurb [any one could thus we have rules]
even 4 is too much for those that have the way to make money type adds
[before your time but the were a real curse.]

Because YA needs to provide enough structure to encourage a balance between the number of questions and the number of answers. Balance here does not mean equal amounts of each (equal amounts of each would mean that each question would get only one answer!) In levels 1-4, if you look at what amounts of questions are allowed compared to the number of answers allowed, they are in a ratio of 1:4. So, on average, each question stands a chance to receive 4 answers.
Of course, this explanation does not even begin to address the impact of YA participants who have reached levels 5-7, who are able to ask and answer unlimited amounts. ( It would seem that they would be exhausted by now anyway! ) By the design of the point system, most of these participants are already used to asking and answering proportionally similar to what is allowed in the lower levels.

so that addicted users create additional profiles to satisfy their quench for asking/answering on Yahoo. That way more volume is generated for Yahoo and we 're all happy with ourselves

Some regulatory mechanism is always good! Many may tend to go overboard!

To keep you from getting too many points a day, I guess.
