Abraham was in Ur (in Central Iraq now), then went to Harran (now in Souht-eastern Turkey). He continued his journey till he reached Canan in Palestine. Don't forget that he visited Northern Egypt and stayed in Western Saudi Arabia with his son Ismail for a while.

He was originally from Ur, which is in modern day Iraq. He then went to Haran which is either in Northern Syria/Southern Turkey, or also in Ur.
