stimuli is the plural word for stimulus. a stimulus could be a sound or someone touching your arm or an attractive person on television. its basically something that stimulates you in some way, not necessarily sexually. its usually something which appeals to our tastes or learned associations, or our emotions or carnal nature but like i say it can be as simple as a small sound or even a light. it usually provokes a response or reaction even if that reaction is mental or even sub-subconscious. i hope this helps.

A stimulus is a factor that causes a response.
Exampes:
In plants, flytraps respond to the little hairs inside the traps being touched. Touching the hairs is the stimulus; closing the trap is the response.
In animals, a sudden motion toward the face makes us close our eyes. The motion is the stimulus; closing the eyes is the response.
