Multicellular organism go through wear and tear on a daily basis. In order to replenish the dead or dying cells, they go through mitosis. Without mitosis, multicellular organisms would lose cells and the organism would die completely.

Multicellular means more than one cell. For a cell to have more than one cell, it undergoes mitosis to duplicate itself. This is how it grows.
