My tv turns off and on without our touching a button at all and it also turns from video to tv without our touching a button. WHY does it do this? could it be a short or should I just tell the ghost in my home to go away?

There's a ghost in your home! I seriously think there is and there's nothing funny about it.Is that the only thing that happens in your house? Are there noises at night? Do things open and close themselves? Please add details I am a psychic and I think you have a little girl haunting your house!

It could be the remote. It could be the tuner. or the mother board. It couldbe interfence from a neighbor. It could be a ghost, especially if it happens at exactly 3:33 AM.. Best thing to do is take it to the shop and see what they say it is. It normally does not cost much to look. Then again this could be an excellent time to go HD.

Does your TV face a window? I remember reading about someone whose TV kept going wonky; it turns out his neighbor's remote was messing with his TV.
