x^2+4x-21/x-3
(x+7)(x-3)/(x-3)
x+7

The numerator is a trinomial. It needs to be factored. Therefore, the numerator is (x - 3)(x + 7) FOIL it and you will see the trinomial. So now you have (x - 3)(x + 7)/x - 3
Simplify and you now have x + 7
