FFVII, because it took the bold step from 2D sprites to 3D polygons and it was a huge success

the characters are much stronger than the other series, each character had their own unique look and story and were very easy to relate too as opposed to later games where the characters were either too plain or just odd (FFIX), and the earlier games where every character looked pretty much the same (FFIII)

the storyline and the cutscenes were amazing, and the game has stood the test of time where others have failed.

FF:Tactics Advance comes close due to the sheer fun you can have playing that game

FF-VIII I like the love story between Riona and Squall and the heart felt struggle to save the world and time as they know it. It does drive me nuts at the same time too, I still can't get past the final scene. If only I had 3 more hero's........

FF8 is the best for me. The graphics, sound, music, battle system,& plot are good. And the card games is the best coz i can get items from there. and coz of cards, i can make Squall's 2nd strongest weapon in disc one. It's also the best coz i never play the FF at the PS2.
