Gator Roll. It is a Cajun wrestling hold, with origins in both French and Japanese fighting systems.

Basically, it combines an armbar with a neck crank. You're in a seated position, at roughly a right angle to your opponent's side. You wrap your legs around his arm, snaking them down to his neck and jaw, while you establish the armbar on the same arm with your arms and hands....you apply the hold seated upright.

If you lean *straight back* you will most likely dislocate the shoulder and break the jaw. If you *roll* with it to either side, you will break his arm (shoulder and elbow dislocations, depending on which way you go), Jaw, *and Neck* at the same time.

The catch with these moves is, of course, getting into that position against a resistant opponent. You'd basically have to take someone *down* and halfway knock them *out* before the opportunity to apply the "submission" arises.

Hence the quotes, because the weird part is, if you apply the hold correctly, it doesn't *hurt* to *be* in it. It doesn't start to hurt until the person with the lock on starts *moving*...he moves a little, you hurt.

He moves a tiny bit more, he maims and cripples you. The margin for error--actually letting someone tap out--on the hold is that small. Why? You are putting torque on one limb, maybe two counting the jaw and neck, with all *four* of your own limbs.
