I got X-ray on my ankle and the doctor said it was negative thus it was a sprain but my trainer thought that maybe the doctor missed the break and confused it for a growth plate. Also when the trainer touched all of my ligaments it didn't hurt but when she pressed down on the bone in a certain spot it did hurt. This sprain/break happened about a month and a half ago and there is still some small pain in my ankle when I play, it's the outside of my left ankle by the way. The weird thing is that sometimes I feel the same sort of small pain on the inside of my ankle as I do on the outside of my ankle where I was hurt. Is there some sort of other problem that I might have? Is there any way to strengthen the bone? Is there any way to prevent my ankle from cracking so often and what could that affect?

A break is more beneficial than a sprain as the break will eventually leave the bone stronger than it was while a sprain will leave the ligaments slightly damaged and a further injury is more likely. That being said, I don't really care which one it is I just want to know what to do about the cracking and all the other stuff I asked about.

Go back to the doctor.

A trainer did not go to medical school, so why would you believe him over the Doc?
Breaking is far worse than a sprain so be thankful. I injured both ankles in high school 15 years ago. To this day, it occasionally cracks. My ankles are a lot bigger than my non athletic friends from the injuries.

I cannot tread water for long as it makes it worse. But for the most part, I have led an healthy and active life since then and have had no problems since.

Wear a wrap if your injury is fairly new. Strengthen the muscles around it when you get better. I still can walk in 4 inch heels and drive in them. You will be ok. Time heals.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

I think you better seek second opinion. That mean you have to see another bone doctor, have your ankle re-xray. Because I think that there is a torn ligament, since you do sports, your ankles will suffer more severely, if you just ignore it.

Sounds like you have tendinitis, go to a foot doctor and have him
x-ray your feet and maybe follow up with an MRI, sometimes after
a broken or sprained ankle tendinitis can develope.
